Maurawan warrior- 90mm Fantasy scratch
von admin

Okay, first of all, this was simply fun to do ….
And it came at Marion’s suggestion after she had painted the little elf sleeping in a walnut shell…….
She wanted to do something else “fantasy”….but didn’t know what exactly.
Anyway, I had a 90mm figure that I was playing around with and wondering what to make him into …….si we both decided that this would end up as our first real fantasy figure ( or figures as there ended up being two of them ).
I had recently been looking at both Aztec & Mayan pictures’ and thought about doing something along those lines, however no need to be tied down on a fantasy figure, so I could add some “elfish” touches from the “Lord of the Rings” films, which we both liked, like the swords and arrow case…..and also throw in some Zulu accents for good measure (the legs below the knee)
The Mayan touches are in the design of the plates on the helmet & belt and the feather tails on the helmet is Aztec.
The bow is because we both shoot bows as a hobby and we hadn’t done much in that area so it was nice to include that.
It was simply nice to throw all sorts of bits and pieces into the mix and see what happened
I also liked the idea of a base showing a section of ruined and overgrown city so that went into the equation.
All in all nothing was really planned , the figure just grew as I worked my way up , down and around the build and I simply added what I wanted to hopefully add a little interest in all parts of the figure.
Finally the figure was done, but still needed something to show he wasn’t supposed to be based in any sort of reality ………….hence the little devil as a pet.
As I mentioned the whole thing was a bit of fun to ring the changes , keep the possibilities of what you can do fresh and get a few ideas out of my mind and onto a figure ( maybe too many , but hey , who cares Smilie it’s allowed ).
Oh , the name……that comes from a people named in a book that Marion was reading Zwinker
